Drinking water supply in the area Domžale – Kamnik

The project Drinking water supply in the area Domžale - Kamnik includes works for the improvement of the water supply system in the municipality of Kamnik, Domžale, Mengeš, Moravče and Trzin. The project comprises two independent water supply systems, each of which represent a unified system of drinking water supply. These are water supply system elements, such as pipelines, pumping stations and reservoirs. The first part includes works in the municipality of Kamnik and the second one the works in the municipalities of Domžale, Mengeš, Moravče and Trzin.

Both drinking water supply systems together supply more than 55,000 people with water. With the implementation of the project the total of 30,180 meters plumbing pipes will be installed as well as 10 pumping stations and 5 storage tanks.

The primary purpose of the project Drinking water supply in the area Domžale – Kamnik:

  • reconstruction and construction of some primary pipelines and ancillary facilities that will improve the quality of drinking water,
  • solving existing problems in the field of drinking water supply in the territorial area of ​​the municipality of Domžale, Kamnik, Mengeš, Moravče and Trzin
  • fulfillment of legal obligations for drinking water supply,
  • distribution of available water quantities from a variety of sources in order to make it possible that a the supply system will work properly even with the potential loss of a single water source or a part of the whole system due to a malfunction.

After the project is completed the operators of public utilities and the infrastructure in the field of drinking water supply will remain the same. These are the system supply Company from Kamnik: Kamnik d. d. and the public utility company Cobble d. o. o. from Domžale.
